This design was created initially to provide a showcase for some of my floral photographs but as the pattern developed the photos became secondary embellishments although in some of the other colorways I designed they were far more prominent. Here however I wanted to emphasize the use of color and the Jacob Ladder block variations to create a pattern climbing /pulsating out from the intense center to the pale, serene outer edges of the medallion-like center, framed out by the pieced block border containing the photographs and the echoing floral appliqué motifs.
The areas of plain fabric in the borders would be ideal for some beautiful quilting stencils.
