Books and Papers Quilt by EQ’s Margaret Okuley in Quilter’s Newsletter

Posted 09-28-2012 by Sarah | Posted in: EQ News and Press

If you received a copy of the October/November issue of Quilters Newsletter magazine you would have seen a photo of our very own Margaret Okuley! An EQ team effort, Books and Papers block was designed by EQ’s graphic designer Sara Seuberling and the quilt design and finished product was done by Margaret. Margaret tells a bit about this quilt: It began with a note from Sara. “ Margaret-here is another possibility for a quilt project.” She had added a line of triangles to a half log cabin block. I chose some soft colors and pieced the block, cutting all the strips and triangles to fit. I put it up on the design wall for a while. It rested there until I came across lots of batik samples that wanted to be used for a quilt. They were a collection of earthy colors, shady greens, browns, golds, grays, tans and rusts. I sorted

BlockBase Sew Along Clarifications

Posted 09-26-2012 by Jenny | Posted in: BlockBase Sew Along

We’ve had several questions regarding the upcoming BlockBase Sew Along, so I thought I’d post answers here on the blog for everyone to see. How do I sign up for the Sew Along? No official sign up is necessary. Just visit the blog on Monday, October 1 to find out which block we’ll be sewing first. On Friday, October 12, visit the blog again to post a picture of your finished block. New blocks will be posted every two weeks, on Mondays. The only requirement is that you own the BlockBase software and have it installed on your computer so you can print the patterns for the blocks.   I have an older version of BlockBase, can I still participate in the sew along? Yes! We republished BlockBase in August. It is not a new version. Those who already own BlockBase should not purchase it again. The product is the

In the 2012 November/December issue, you’ll see Linda Hare made her own Bows and Boughs and it’s turned out great! Linda made this quilt as a secret santa gift for her sewing group, The Materials Girls. We think this was an excellent choice, Linda. We hope the recipient did too.
