Welcome to Block 2 of our Jump Start Sew Along. In this lesson we’re going to concentrate on fabric—how to use the fabrics built into the Fabric Library and how to add new fabrics. Let’s get started! (Want an easy-to-print version of this lesson? Click here to download the Block 2 Lesson PDF file.) Open EQ7. Click the Open an existing project tab in the Project Helper window and open your sew along project file, which we named “Jump Start Sew Along” in the first lesson. Most likely, your project will be listed under Most recently used projects (unless you’ve designed lots of projects since our last lesson!). Click on the project file name to select it, then click OK. The Sketchbook will appear. Remember that the Sketchbook holds all the “ingredients” for our quilt designs. Click the Blocks section on the left. You’ll see the four blocks that we

It’s time to show off your first sew along block! It’s always exciting to see everyone’s fabric choices. Here’s my block: I just love this block. Pretty simple to sew, but still a striking design. Plus, there are lots of different options when coloring the block. Here are a few more examples: To Link Up Your Photo Scroll down to the comment form at the end of this post. (Want an easy-to-print version of this lesson? Click here to download the Block 1 Lesson PDF file.) Open EQ7. On the Create a new project tab in the Project Helper window, type “Jump Start Sew Along”. Click OK. We’ll work in this same project for the entire sew along. Click the Work on Quilt tool . This is the Quilt Worktable. Take a moment to look around your screen. See the diagram below for the important stuff to know. We’ll set up a basic quilt layout. But don’t worry–you don’t have to make this quilt. We’ll talk more about quilt layouts later in the sew along. On the top menu bar, click

4 Blocks, Lots of EQ Skills! I’m so excited to announce a new sew along here on the EQ Blog! We’re going to make a fun-to-sew quilt together that will teach us lots of useful EQ7 skills. If you’re an EQ newbie, I hope this sew along jump starts your EQ journey. If you’re a long-time EQ user, you may still learn something new. Plus it’s just fun to sew along with the group! All of the blocks we’ll be working with are based on a nine patch grid. They’ll be fairly simple to sew, but we’re going to learn a lot about EQ7 along the way. Like the sew alongs we’ve done in the past, I’ll start by posting a lesson for the block. You’ll have two weeks to do the lesson and sew the block. Then I’ll post the “Link Up” page where we can all share pictures

EQ7 Summer Drawing Series: Quilt Link Up!

Ready to share your finished EQ7 Summer Drawing Series projects? I’m so excited to see what everyone has done with their blocks! You should all be so proud of yourselves for drawing AND sewing these blocks! Here’s my finished quilt: I used the four lesson blocks and added some flying geese to create movement around the quilt. Dense quilting just didn’t seem in keeping with these soft, feminine colors, so I kept the quilting fairly minimal. I hope all the sew-alongers love their finished projects as much as I love mine! To Link Up Your Photo Scroll down to the comment form at the end of this post. Fill in your info and make sure you select an image for your comment (this will be the photo of your quilt). If you have a blog, make sure to add your site too. If you wrote a post for this quilt,
