User Spotlight: Elizabeth Dackson of Don’t Call Me Betsy!

Posted 11-12-2013 by | Posted in: User Spotlight

Elizabeth Dackson of Don’t Call Me Betsy! is the focus of our User Spotlight today. You can find Elizabeth’s beautiful designs everywhere (Quiltmaker, Modern Quilts Unlimited, and Quilty- just to name a few!) and she recently released her first book called Becoming a Confident Quilter. She’s quite the busy quilter, so I’d like to thank her for taking time out of her busy schedule to chat with us! Showstopper (EQ design left, finished quilt right) by Elizabeth Dackson How long have you been quilting? I’ve been quilting pretty much as long as I’ve been sewing, almost four years. I didn’t start sewing until I became a stay-at-home mom and wandered into Jo-Ann’s one Sunday morning in search of a hobby. I bought my first sewing machine, and haven’t stopped sewing since! I devoured library books, teaching myself everything I could about sewing, and then I stumbled upon blogs and made

User Spotlight: Rita Hodge of Red Pepper Quilts

Posted 10-11-2013 by | Posted in: User Spotlight

Today I’m happy to share with you the work of Rita Hodge! Rita has been quilting for more than 10 years, but just recently started using EQ7. She was encouraged by quilting friends to start a blog back in 2009, and if you cruise the quilt blogging world at all I’m sure you’ve seen her gorgeous quilts at Red Pepper Quilts! Here’s what Rita has to say about EQ7: “I purchased EQ7 in January 2012 and have spent some time becoming familiar with the software. I didn’t start actively designing and using EQ7 to make a quilt until 2013 and now that I am more familiar with the software I am amazed by the possibilities and love the design freedom that is now available to me. What I like best about designing with EQ7 is the endless possibilities of blocks and quilt designs. I also really love the support available

User spotlight: Evelyn Townsend

Posted 10-07-2013 by | Posted in: Downloads User Spotlight

EQ user Evelyn Townsend recently emailed us with a project to share.   Evelyn says, “I designed the table runner project for the Friendship Circle chapter of the Richmond Quilt Guild.  We were in the third and final month of a three month “Purge and Splurge” challenge in which members were challenged to use fabrics from their stash that had a fall theme.  Since I am the program director, I thought a simple table runner would be a good project to use the fall fabrics.  I taught the class using the paper piecing technique since both log cabin and flying geese blocks can be challenging to piece accurately.  I did some fabric painting on my when I finished the quilting.”         Here is the finished quilt. It looks great! You can download the project here, (for EQ7) if you’d like. She has also offered other projects over

User Spotlight – Marie Trimmer

Posted 08-21-2013 by | Posted in: User Spotlight

One of users, Marie Trimmer is a long time EQ fan. Marie says, “I have been a user of your software since it was an old DOS program and I wanted to say that I love your design programs. I don’t claim to be a computer wiz but even I can use it. I was doing a block of the month program for our guild and it had been years since we did an applique quilt so I decided to plan the entire quilt as applique. Once again I turned to my EQ6  for patterns and found what I was looking for. There was a few blocks I was looking for that I couldn’t find so ended up drawing a few myself.     When the quilt was finished I took it to the guild and the response was amazing. All of a sudden the people who didn’t want to attempt
