A note from Patti: “This is a quilt that I designed for this year’s Quilts From 100 Blocks, based on a block that I designed (in EQ of course) for 100 Blocks Volume 9.  I really liked the Christmas Traditions collection by Tracey Sims for Northcott, especially the cardinal border stripe, and this quilt seemed a great way to showcase it.  When I made up the quilt for the magazine, it looked just like my EQ image!” – Patti Carey Download “Christmas Traditions” Catch up with Patti >>

A note from Toby: “I used a snowman applique design that was in EQ, added the facial features and outlined the snowman to look like I put a running stitch around it. I learned a lot of things while designing this quilt since I had never done anything like it before. I thought putting it in front of the star blocks made it more interesting. It can be hung all winter instead of just during the holiday season. A note from Lerlene: “With the blocks in this project your designs can be subtle or striking – it all depends on value. Use colors close in value and the effect is subtle. Use high contrast and the quilt sings. You’re the conductor – you choose the instruments and make the music. (I haven’t veered off into another universe – I’m still talking “quilting.”) To get multiple layouts in a hurry, activate the Symmetry tool and watch the fireworks. Flip through the quilts in the sketchbook. The yellow shapes look like circles behind a gray and purple lattice. Have fun with the basics as you change them into your own masterpiece.” – Lerlene Nevaril Download “Color Play” Catch up with Lerlene >>

A note from Sandi: “I’ve always loved the red and white twist look from a candy cane! It reminds me of the excitement of Christmas!  Even more, I love the excitement in a child’s eye when they see a Christmas tree…seemed right to mix the two into a holiday table runner.” -Sandi Blackwell Download “Candy Cane Trees” Catch up with Sandi >>

A note from Karen: “I designed a fun optical illusion, perfect for the holidays! Blink and you see strings of Christmas ornaments, blink again and you see a transparent Attic Window design!” -Karen Combs Download “Strings of Ornaments” Catch up with Karen >>

A note from Nancy: “I love pairing up two blocks to create a unique quilt. In this amazing design, I combined an original block with a Massachusetts block to create a design with lots of motion and visual interest.” -Nancy Download “Twilight Zone” Catch up with Nancy >>

A note from Gail: “Are you as excited as I am for the new episodes of Downton Abbey? As owner of Ladyfingers Sewing Studio in Oley, PA, our new collections of Downton Abbey fabric inspired me to create a fun easy-to-sew table runner to enjoy all season long. I just loved using the fussy cutting feature of EQ7, as well as the ability to rotate the fabrics when creating the runner design.” -Gail Kessler Visit Gail’s blog for a fabric kit and sewing tutorial for this great project!
