EQ7 lets you search for blocks in two different ways: by notecard (name) and by category.

Search by notecard

  1. Click LIBRARIES > Block Library > Search > By Notecard.
  2. Put checks next to the fields you want to search (in general leave all 3 lines checked):
  3. Under Find at most _____items enter a number between 1 and 999, or leave it at the default which is 50.
  4. In the box at the top marked Find all the blocks with this notecard text, type the word or words you want to search by.
    (For example “trees”)
  5. Click the Search button > click OK.
  6. Click any block you want to use, then click Add to Sketchbook.

Please note:

Search the Name field:
You will see more results if you type only part of a name. For example “Ohio,” rather than “Ohio Star.”

Search the Notes field:
If you save your own blocks in the library you can search by notes you’ve added.
If you have BlockBase installed, be sure to put a check next to Notes. BlockBase names are numbers. Only the earliest known name (therefore not all names) for a block is in the Notes field.

Search by category

Each block in the Library is marked according to predetermined categories.

  1. Click LIBRARIES > Block Library > Search > By Category.
  2. Click any section to view the categories.
  3. Click the image next to a category name to add the category to the search. You can add as many categories as you want. To remove a category, click the image next to the category again, to deselect it.
(For example “Rotary Cutable” and “Valentine’s Day”)
  4. Under Find at most _____blocks enter a number between 1 and 999, or leave it at the default which is 50.
  5. Click the Search button > click OK.
  6. Click any block you want to use, then click Add to Sketchbook.
