Time to show off those #1301 blocks!
My block is 10″ and I used the foundation pattern to construct it. If a block is foundation-pieceable, you can pretty much guarantee that’s the technique I’m gonna use! With a block like this I think it’s easy to get your fabrics flip-flopped around, so I like that I can write notes on the foundation paper to keep myself straight.

Block 10 is done, I can’t believe we only have 2 more and it will be done. I have started assembly of what is done and I have made 3 extra to make it a tad bigger. I am excited……….

I am posting my second attempt since the first one was WRONG in some many ways, size and color placement just to name a couple.

I thought this block was difficult even though I paper-pieced. Most likely, due to user error. lol Love all your beautiful blocks! Sharon

I had more trouble doing this block than any of the others so far. I finally got it done but it is not as good as I would like. I guess that is the way it goes some times.

I was more careful about using the seam markings on the EQ templates this time and my block size came out perfect! I print out the templates, then using spray glue, I glue them to template plastic and cut the out then cut out the block pieces. The problem I had with block 9 was; I was using a very scant quarter inch on my machine that I had set up for a previous quilt project. Learned my lesson. Can hardly wait to see what’s in store for us with #11.

Very interesting. Of the first 17 blocks posted, 10 rotate counterclockwise and 7 rotate clockwise. Curious.

Thanks Don !!!! I’ve had the fabric for a while but I realized partway into this that I wouldn’t have enough of the gold to do all 24 blocks (2 of each). So I’ll have 12 with red, blue, green & gold and 12 with just red, blue & green. I did save some of the gold to hopefully use in the borders.

I just looked at some of the info attached to the posted Block 10s and I was surprised and delighted to see participants from Denmark and Portugal. That’s fantastic! Along with those that we know are from Australia, Canada(me), and various regions of the US, that’s a very encouraging array of international involvement. Are there any other countries sewing along?

I had to do this one twice. The first time I had it reversed and I thought that I had printed my paper-piecing pattern correctly and discovered I hadn’t after all the pieces were sewn. Glad this one is done. Don, I love your blocks. Those frogs peeking out are very cute!

I have enjoyed this sew along so much.I have enjoyed looking at all the sew along blocks, and all the comments. I do hope there will be more to come. As I am a carer and am unable to go to any social things connected to quilting this sew along keeps me in touch. Thank you EQ and everyone involved. Elaine

I had some mis-cut triangles from another project that were (theoretically) the correct size. I had to finagle a little while sewing, and that’s my excuse for why the points don’t match.

After Don’s comment about clockwise vs. counter-clockwise blocks I realized my block is spinning the opposite way of the BlockBase block. I must have forgotten to check “Mirror” in the print dialog!
But I’m going to call this a “design choice” rather than a mistake.

I have read the comments so far and had to laugh! Don said some were clockwise and some were counter-clockwise. WHO knows which way they are supposed to be but YOU the sewer…….
I think they look great either way. THEY are all BEAUTIFUL!
I hope Jenny comes up with another sew-a-long down the road. I have really enjoyed this.
