It’s Block #1774 link up time!
We started 2013 out with a doozy—65 patches in this block! I’ve been making my sew along blocks in two sizes- 5″ and 10″. I think you can guess which size I choose for this block.
I promise block #8 will be a bit more tame!

In my hast to complete this block, I forgot to flip the foundation design.
I still like the outcome, but wish I had completed it correctly.

I did the same thing! I did the first section, realized it wasn’t correct and flipped the foundation and finished the block. I thought EQ would have printed a correct foundation pattern.

This was a fun block to play with. After playing a while, I choose to create corner “chevrons”. I really like this block for its multitude of possibilities! Good choice and I can’t wait to see what Block #8 will be.

I apologize, but I uploaded Block 6 by mistake and can’t delete it. Block 7 has been properly uploaded. My bronchitis is getting to me. Ugh….

Block 7. 6″ block! I paper pieced it.

What a killer of a block…I made mine 8″ using foundation piecing. Sewing the individual pieces was alright but piecing it all together at the end was quite tricky.

I was very careful to make sure I got the foundation piecing and rotary cutting instructions for a 9″ block, but, after using a combination of both techniques, the final block was only 8.5″ raw. That’s the second time mixing the techniques ended up with an undersized block.

So many possibilities, everyone’s blocks are beautiful. I tried paper piecing and rotary cutting. Paper piecing turned out better, the rotary cutting and piecing left the block not the supposed size. Ive much practice to do.But on the whole the fortnight can’t go fast enough until the next block, thank you so much. Elaine

I’m making all of my blocks 12 1/2 inches to put in a queen size quilt (hopefully) so paper piecing is out of the question. I’ve got to say this block was a true test of piecing triangles, getting the points in the the proper place, etc. Did pretty good I think but my finished block measures 12 3/4 instead of 12 1/2. May have to make a few adjustments to get it to fit into my quilt. It was a fun block in spite of the triangles. In talking with my quilting friends I ask the question: What do you suppose Jenny will come up with next – I think the block may be getting increasingly harder. lol They suggested it would probably be a hexagon. Surely not Jenny! lol

There are lots of great hexagon options in the Non-Square Blocks category…. But since that would be difficult to work in to a sampler quilt with the other sew along blocks I won’t do that to you!
Maybe a nice feathered star like #2271. Kidding!
