I hope everyone found time in their busy holiday schedules to sew up block #2354!
I see lots of interesting ways to color this block, so I’m anxious to see how everyone else approached it. I’ve got Christmas on the brain, so the whole time I was sewing this block, I kept picturing this:
Add an appliqué bow and you’ve got a wreath! I’m trying to keep all my sew along blocks coordinating (in a scrappy sort of way), so the wreath version will have to be a project for another day!
To Link Up Your Photo
Scroll down to the comment form at the end of this post. Fill in your info and make sure you select an image for your comment (this will be the photo of your block).
If you have a blog, make sure to add your site too. If you wrote a post for this block, please link directly to that post. Let’s visit each others’ blogs and all get to know each other!
You can link up your Block 6 photo at any time. But for those who link up by Wednesday, December 26, 12 noon EST, you’ll be entered in a little giveaway! One lucky winner will receive a priority mail envelope filled with fabric scraps. Because who doesn’t need a little more fabric?!
The Block 5 Link Up Giveaway winner was Pat Paulson.
We’re taking a little break from the sew along, so come back on Monday, January 7 for Block #7 of the sew along!

Terri, I can’t wait to see what your finished quilt looks like… I love you color choice and the different way you have done your blocks. You are very creative.
They are all pretty but yours are exceptional!

This block was another fun one! I wish I had brighter batiks, but I’m trying to use what I’ve got and not purchase more right now. We’ll see how that goes in 2013!! haha
Hope everyone enjoys the Holiday Season. Stay safe! See ya next year!!

As always, great job everyone! We may be getting to the point where I could recognize who made the block before looking at the name underneath.
Happy holidays to all!

I have a big box of scraps that I’m trying to use up so I get some wild looking things. I like them wild so it’s all good.

Finally found the time to finish my block and post it. Had a very busy but wonderful Christmas with all the family here for dinner on Christmas Day. It was our 10 month old great grandson’s first Christmas. I must admit that I had a little trouble with this block. I think the problem was that my templates may not be accurate. I am making all of my blocks 12 1/2 inches unfinished in order to make a bed size quilt therefore the paper piecing option didn’t seem the way to go for a couple of reasons. 1) there is more waste and I have limited matching fabric and 2) I would have had to piece the paper pattern together. So I have made templates for all of my blocks. I have run out of the navy and the burgandy fabric so my next block will have some different fabrics but still basically the same colors that go with the fabric using for the border of the quilt.

I am having a terrible time sewing templates and making all my seams line up. Any advice?

I had some trouble too Annie and thought it was just me at first. I had to keep adjusting seams etc to make everything fit. After thinking about it I decided that it may be impossible to get a perfect template via the computer, then the printer. Maybe someone will prove me wrong but I believe that templates are not perfect using this technology. Just makes things challenging and much more interesting I guess. lol

Nancy,
I hadn’t thought of that. And I just thought of something else – even though the templates may look symmetrical, they may not be and after sorting out the cut fabric pieces, I may not be sewing them to the correct edges. hmmm something to think about when I cut out some more templates.
Thanks for the advice.

You could use the foundation pattern instead of templates. I actually use a combination of both- I use the templates to cut out my fabric patches, but sew them together using the foundation printout.

Good idea Jenny…I’ll use the templates for foundation piecing in the future. Thank you!
